I’m back with all new Movie Mondays.
Since I won’t be going to a movie theater any time soon (Boo!), I thought I would share what I’ve been streaming lately (Yay!).
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga follows Icelandic, childhood friends Lars (Will Farrell) and Sigrit (Rachel McAdams) as they pursue their dream of winning the Eurovision Song Contest. They sing, they dance, they fall off the stage as the quirky ABBA-esque band Fire Saga.
This flick had me at Will Farrell. Doing what he does best — crazy, heart-felt, weird, lovable losers — Ferrell, along with McAdams (and Dan Stevens of Downton Abby fame) create some of the most ridiculously fun musical numbers I’ve seen in a long time.
I’m not going to say Eurovision is an instant comedy classic, but it did fill me with joyful laughter. And really, during times like these, that’s all I really want.
Now, a Double Feature for the Ages!
This past Saturday night, it was my turn to pick the movies. And boy did I deliver!
Xanadu will make you go WTF even while you’re tapping your toes. And Witches of Eastwick is, IMHO, the best witch movie (and incidentally, the only witch move my husband likes) ever produced. Plus, a night of Olivia Newton-John, Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer and Cher? Talk about joyful entertainment!
Both flicks are available on HBOMax.
